On line village meetings

greetings last night at the september general meeting we conducted an experiment with the ning sites online chat. it appears that we have the tool to conduct an online meeting. It is a chat style format and only a couple of things need to be worked out who will transcribe the info, and how do we get the facilatators attention when we have an online queston or comment? other than that it worked pretty darn well. There was only one person involved online and she is from the east coast. If we have a huge group it will be more complex yet I think still manageable. This new application dovetailed with the fact that the Village has consensed on the fact that we wish to try and create more "community" throughout the year and this maybe one tool that all will be able to use near and far.

I'm into it - as long as we can work the bugs out. I think that anything that helps people connect from far away will benefit the Village and our community. It was nice to know that our East Coast Family member is still with us and part of the Village and wants to participate. That warmed my heart. So I say, let's do our best to make it happen! If it gets to big or doesn't feel right, we can always stop.
